How Does the Age Calculator Work?
The calculator uses your birth date and today's date to compute a chronological age. The algorithm works as follows:
- Years: Subtract birth year from current year. Subtract 1 if the birthday hasn't occurred yet this year.
- Months: Calculate remaining months after full years, accounting for whether the day of month has passed.
- Days: Calculate remaining days after full months, using the actual number of days in each month.
- Total Days: Multiply years by 365.25 (accounts for leap years) and add remaining months Γ 30.44 and remaining days.
- Hours & Minutes: Multiply total days by 24 (hours) and 1,440 (minutes).
Age Calculation Formula
The standard age formula used internationally is: Age = Current Date β Date of Birth. In practice:
- If today is April 30, 2026 and you were born on March 15, 1990: Age = 36 years, 1 month, 15 days
- Total days = (36 Γ 365.25) + (1 Γ 30.44) + 15 β 13,200 days
- Total hours = 13,200 Γ 24 = 316,800+ hours
